"Home Grown Haralson"

Throughout the landscape of Haralson County you will find working farms and agri-tourism programs that offer you educational experiences and fun events.

We promote Agritourism in Georgia to improve quality of life for visitors and residents, to preserve farmland and open spaces, to create and preserve sources of locally grown food and to create a place for families to experience agriculture.

Check out the listings below for more detailed information.

Wake Robin Alpacas

The farm is nestled in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains about fifty miles west of Atlanta, GA, off I-20 in Bremen. They welcome you to schedule a visit to their farm to meet their lovely alpaca family. Come see the difference that good breeding makes! They sell herd sires and breeding females. As pharmacists, they decided to name their farm and crias for medicinal herbs and flowers. Wake Robin is the common name for the trillium, a wildflower that grows in this area.

Wake Robin Alpacas, LLC

It blooms in the spring; therefore, it "wakes the robins". The wake robin plant has three petals, three leaves, and three sepals. Thus, it is symbolic of the Trinity. Medicinally, Wake Robin is used to stop hemorrhaging during birth and is also called Birth Root. Wake Robin is a very appropriate name for an alpaca maternity ward. They offer tours of the farm for school groups and individuals and sell Alpaca Yarn.

"U PICK EM" BLUEBERRIES" Circle M Farm

Jon and David Mitcham are now taking care of the blueberries that their mom and dad planted almost 30 years ago.

Our mother and father, Marion and Harry Mitcham, planted these berries almost 30 years ago. They both, now deceased, enjoyed being with people. They looked forward to meeting the people who came to pick. They would get their name and number and add them to a list of "friends" that they would look forward to seeing in the years to come. Many times, after picking, people would come to the house to pay for what they picked only to be invited in for a cold drink and some conversation. Mom and dad loved those visits. After the bushes started producing, they would advertise in the Farmer's Bulletin and folks would come from all over to pick. Mom and dad also took orders and would pick the berries, for those who couldn't pick, for a small fee on each gallon.

Dad was a minister for over 40 years in the North GA Conference of the United Methodist Church. Mom worked just as long in Christian Education and as a library assistant. They were fortunate enough to retire after long careers and enjoy over 30 years retirement. In essence, they lived two lifetimes. Now, I am retired and am able to continue the enjoyment of this small piece of heaven. I look forward to any questions you may have. Please feel free to send me an email and for goodness sake, come pick some berries. Jon

We are strictly a pick your own farm.

Berries should be ready the second week in July. The best times to pick are early in the morning before the heat of the day and late in the afternoon after the day begins to cool. It is a good idea to bring some water or drinks to consume during picking or just after you finish. We charge $8.00 per gallon. It is a good idea to bring something to put your berries in for transport home. We have buckets to loan for picking or you may bring your own. For transport home a shallow pan or a shallow cardboard box is ideal. All we need is at least 24 hours notice.

Pickers may call Jon and Susan at (770) 646-5191 or David at (770) 355-7143
